Programming


Various interesting panels, sessions and events beginning Friday afternoon will be scheduled for your enlightenment and enjoyment. Subjects range from the delightfully silly to the seriously sublime.

If you would like to be part of our panels, sessions and events, or just have programming suggestions, go to the new Event Planning Dashboard and log in (or create a new account). From there you can volunteer as a Programming Participant, request a table in the Creators' Alley*, make programming suggestions and much more.

*Please note that tables in the Creators' Alley area of the Expo Hall are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are reserved specifically for authors, artists, etc. that are interested in selling, promoting, and autographing their own works and would like to have additional opportunities to meet face-to-face with their fans and other attendees of InConJunction. Authors, artists, etc. that are planning on selling any other additional merchandise must purchase vendor space in the InConJunction Expo Hall. Artists that would like to display their works and make them available for purchase (in particular artists that are not planning on attending InConJunction or who may require additional hanging/display space) are encouraged to contact the Art Show organizer to reserve space in the InConJunction Art Show.

This is exactly what it sounds like: a panel where cosplayers give advice to other cosplayers on how to approach cosplay from a more sustainable angle, especially as the "TikTok-ification" of cosplay has led it to a lot of the same problems fast fashion has today. In addition to explaining how to source or reuse materials for cosplay, the panel also goes over ways to be a more sustainable con-goer for anyone who attends them, cosplayers or not.

Toastmaster Mikey Mason's book came out on June 2 through Falstaff Books. Confessions of a Geek Bard is a collection of song lyrics and stories from conventions, standup comedy and his personal history. Mason will read selections, play the songs that accompany them and host a Q&A.

Traditional sculptor goes digital. David Lee Pancake talks about his evolution from traditional artist into the world of computer sculpture and 3D printing. He will attempt to sculpt a dragon head on an iPad Pro, and discuss what is involved in 3D printing and what is sculpted on the computer.

Writers' Symposium

Art Inspires Art - Sunday Write-A-Thon   (3 Hours - Workshop - Rating: PG)
Kick off Sunday morning with a two-hour Write-A-Thon and get the chance to have your short story, poem or essay published in next year's InConJunction program. Four to five pieces of artwork will be presented to attendees to provide inspiration for a brand-new piece of writing. Writers will have 30 minutes to observe the artwork and get comfortable. Writers should bring their laptops or notebooks and be prepared to start a fresh project (not a work in progress). After the event, writers will have 15 days to edit their first drafts and submit them to the moderator. The moderator will review and provide up to two rounds of professional editing advice before final drafts will be judged for publication in next year's program.
