Anime Room


InConJunction's Anime Room, sponsored by The Indiana Animation Club, is known for its wide variety of animated Japanese movies, series and shorts. The Anime Room runs nearly all hours of the convention. The schedule is geared towards family audiences during the day, and adult audiences during the night.

The Anime Room staff always welcomes suggestions and movie referrals. An honest effort is made to research all suggestions and judge the suitability of each request. Studio representatives should make contact via one of the methods below to schedule screenings of their films or videos.

Friday, July 2nd
2:00 PM Kaze no Stigma 1-5 (2 Hours - Rating: TV-14)
Ayano is the heir to the house of Kannagi, whose members are all fire users. All except for her cousin, Kazuma. After he was defeated by Ayano, his father banished him from the house in disgrace. Kazuma ran off and changed his surname to Yagami. He formed a contract with the spirit of wind and becomes a powerful wind user. Four years later, he returned. Action, drama.
4:00 PM GinTama 1-5 (2 Hours - Rating: TV-14)
Life isn't easy in Feudal Japan, especially since the aliens landed and conquered everything. Part period drama, part science fiction, and 100% comedy, GinTama has been running continuously on TV Tokyo since 2006.
6:00 PM Discussion: Present, past and future. (1 Hour)
What's new in Anime and Little-known Greats you might have missed. Also, what is the future of anime in America?
7:00 PM KatanaGatari 1 (1 Hour - Rating: TV-14)
Takes place in the Edo era where Yasuri Shichika is the seventh head of the Kyotou school of Japanese sword martial arts living in exile on Fushou Island with his sister Nanami. With the order from a female samurai general, Togame, he sets out to collect the twelve treasured swords created by a legendary swordsmith Shikizaki Kiki. Fantasy, action and comedy.
8:00 PM Angel Beats! 1-5 (2 Hours - Rating: TV-14)
In a world after death that resembles a high school, deceased young people fight for their fate and their future. Yuri, the leader of the Shinda Sekai Sensen, rebels against the god who destined her to have an unreasonable life. On the other hand, Tenshi(angel), the chairperson of the student council for the world after death, battles against the SSS members. Highly rated comedy-drama.
10:00 PM Fairy Tail 1-5 (2 Hours - Rating: TV-14)
Lucy is a 17-year-old girl who wants to be a full-fledged mage. One day, when visiting Harujion Town, she meets Natsu, a young man who gets sick easily by any type of transportation. But Natsu isn't just any ordinary kid, he's a member of one of the world's most infamous mage guilds: Fairy Tail. Fantasy Action-Comedy.

The exchange is to take place at the manufacturing colony Industrial 7. This is the home of the student Banagher Links, who becomes involved.

Created by Stan Lee of Marvel Comics. An orphaned American kid named Joey, working part time to support his grandma and himself, has always wanted to become a hero. He obtains a broken robot toy discarded by a rich school bully and attempts to repair it. By accident it becomes incredibly powerful. Good thing, because alien invaders drop in.

2:00 PM Durarara 1-2 (1 Hour - Rating: TV-14)
Ryuugamine Mikado is a boy who longs for the exciting life of the big city. At the invitation of his childhood friend Masaomi, he transfers to a school in Ikebukuro. Nervous from Masaomi's stories, Mikado witnesses an urban legend on his first day there, the Headless Rider astride a black motorcycle. Supernatural Drama
3:00 PM Living For The Day After Tomorrow 1-3 (1 Hour - Rating: TV-14)
Karada is a young girl who hates being treated like a child and who wishes to be grown up. Shoko is an aloof, unhappy young woman who has just returned from overseas. When they meet by coincidence one night at a local shrine where they both make wishes, they exchange ages. Drama, Romance.
4:00 PM Bamboo Blade 1-2 (1 Hour - Rating: TV-PG)
Toraji Ishida is a high school kendo teacher. His friend and fellow kendo teacher makes him a bet: if Ishida can assemble a girls' kendo team that can defeat his girls' team in a practice match, he'll treat Ishida to free meals at his father's sushi restaurant for a whole year. Now Ishida must find five girls to join the team. Comedy-Drama
5:00 PM Slayers Revolution 1-2 (1 Hour - Rating: TV-PG)
The original cast reunited after over a decade. Lina Inverse is on the run from a government inspector who's ready to put her away for good. Her crime? Being Lina Inverse. Adventure, comedy, fantasy.

Enduring popularity, historic innovation, unique style or something else?
7:00 PM Experimental Films of Osamu Tezuka (2 Hours, 30 Minutes - Rating: TV-14)
Three long and ten short films culminating with the 30-minute Legend of the Forest, an epic of forest dwellers defending themselves against human incursion. Legend's style traces the evolution of animation from 19th century etchings through the 20th century to contemporary anime, using Tschaikovski's 4th Symphony as score. Only parts one and four were completed before Tezuka's death in 1989.
9:30 PM Evolving Art Styles. (30 Minutes)
The influences of time and fashion, House styles, Japanese masculine and feminine schools, changing costs and technology.
10:00 PM Soul Eater 1-5 (2 Hours - Rating: TV-14)
Set in the Shinigami technical school for weapon meisters, the series revolves around 3 groups of each a weapon meister and a human weapon. Trying to make the latter a "Death Scythe" and thus fit for use by the Shinigami, they must collect the souls of 99 evil humans and 1 witch.
12:00 AM Kurokami 1-5 (2 Hours - Rating: TV-14)
In this world, there are three identical looking people in existence who split between them an energy-like force called "Terra." If two of them meet, one will die and the survivor's force will be enhanced. There also exist beings who observe the human world, maintaining the balance of Terra, called the Terra Guardians. Fantasy action drama.
2:00 AM Queen's Blade 1-5 (2 Hours - Rating: TV-MA)
In an unnamed fantasy world, the gods hold a tournament every four years, called Queen's Blade, where the mightiest female warriors compete to determine which has the best combination of skill, power, and beauty. As the prize, the winner becomes the new Queen. Fantasy action with good production, some substance and much ecchi.
4:00 AM Blade Of The Immortal 1-5 (2 Hours - Rating: TV-MA)
Manji is a crass, violent samurai with a special ability: he cannot die. Cursed with immortality by the nun Yobikuni as punishment for his ruthless deeds, he has grown weary of his ageless life. The only way to lift the curse is to slay 1,000 evil men. So Manji wanders Japan, shedding the blood of the wicked on his quest to finally die. Drama.

Sunday, July 4th
6:00 AM Taro the Dragon Boy (1979) (1 Hour - Rating: G)
Lazy and selfish, Taro loves to eat, sleep and wrestle with the forest animals, with no direction in his life. A passing wizard gives him a special potion that gains him the strength of a hundred men - but he can only use it when he is helping others. He learns that his mother was transformed into a dragon for her greediness and sets forth to free her from the spell. Japanese folklore adaptation.
7:00 AM Sea Prince and the Fire Child (1981) (2 Hours - Rating: G)
Sirius, the sea prince, falls in love with Malta, daughter of the queen of fire. Romeo and Juliet adaptation.
9:00 AM Spice And Wolf 1-2 (1 Hour - Rating: TV-14)
Kraft Lawrence is a peddler traveling during a period much like Europe in the Middle Ages. One night when stopped at a town, he finds a naked girl with the ears and tail of a wolf asleep in his cart. Her name is Holo - a harvest goddess who longs to return to her northern home since belief in her has waned. Romance with economic and religious themes.
10:00 AM Blue Drop 1-3 (1 Hour - Rating: TV-14)
Mari Wakatake has been living with her Grandmother for the past 5 years after a mysterious tragedy caused the loss of her home, friends and family, as well as her memories. She is sent to Kaihou Academy and meets Hagino Sekonji. At first appearance, this girl appears like a normal student but she has a secret that relates to the tragedy of 5 years ago. Science-Fiction Drama.
11:00 AM Anime and Philosophy (1 Hour)
Anime and Philosophy was recently added to the Popular Culture and Philosophy Series "..Anime asks difficult qustions about war and violence, the limits of human life and the self, and the frontiers of experience.."- Carole M. Cusack, editor, Journal of Religious History, in a review. Discussion not limited to the book.
12:00 PM Otoboku 1-4 and 13 (2 Hours - Rating: TV-14)
Mizuho can't believe his ears when Grandpa's will is read out. Grandpa's final wish is for Mizuho to attend the same academy as Mizuho's mother. The catch is it's an all-girls school. With the help of friend Mariya however (and some staff members), he gets a makeover good enough to fool almost everyone at the academy. Comedy-drama.
2:00 PM Mariaholic 1-3 (1 Hour - Rating: TV-14)
Kanako enrolls in all-girls school because she gets hives around men and wants to find her destined yuri partner. She meets a captivating freshman named Mariya who fits her criteria - except her seemingly ideal mate happens to be a cross-dressing sadistic boy. Comedy.
3:00 PM Arakawa Under The Bridge 1-2 (1 Hour - Rating: TV-14)
Ichinomiya Kou has always lived according to the creed of his wealthy, successful family: never be in debt to anyone. But one day, under the Arakawa Bridge, his life is saved by a homeless girl named Nino. In order to pay her back, Kou promises to be her boyfriend; and thus begins his new life under the bridge. Comedy.
