Anime Room


InConJunction's Anime Room is known for its wide variety of animated Japanese movies, series and shorts. The Anime Room runs nearly all hours of the convention. The schedule is geared towards family audiences during the day, and adult audiences during the night.

The Anime Room staff always welcomes suggestions and movie referrals. An honest effort is made to research all suggestions and judge the suitability of each request. Studio representatives should make contact via one of the methods below to schedule screenings of their films or videos.

Friday, July 4th
2:00 PM Karas: The Prophecy
(1 Hour, 30 Minutes)
The balance between Tokyo's spiritual and human dimensions has long been upheld by the city's guardian crow Karas and his masters. But that balance has been thrown into disarray as Eko, a former Karas, has attempted to seize power. The entity Yurine, who represents the will of the people, stands in his way with her newly risen Karas.
3:30 PM Karas: The Revelation
(1 Hour, 30 Minutes)
Eko unleashes his wrath on the humans in Tokyo as the Yurines of surrounding regions observe and other spiritual beings decide whether or not to intervene in the epic battle.
5:00 PM Magikano 1-5
(2 Hours - Rating: TV-14)
Average middle school student Haruo has been kept in the dark by his three sisters that his is a family of magic users, since he seems to have no powers. His life changes with the arrival of Ayumi, who needs to awaken Haruo's powers by turning him into a "real man", to relieve herself of a curse, and she's not happy about the necessity. Innuendo and fan service used to humorous effect.

Taking your favorite character from an image to something wearable.
8:00 PM Lucky Star 1-4
(1 Hour, 30 Minutes - Rating: TV-PG)
Konata is an athletic and intelligent high school girl too dedicated to her favorite primetime animes and games to excel in anything but otaku culture. She and her friends explore the unexplored by questioning the ordinary. Another romp from the makers of The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya.
9:30 PM Miss Critical Moment
(30 Minutes)
Weird Science for a Chinese girl living in Tokyo who keeps getting into bizarre life-threatening situations. A voice-over narrator explains the chemistry, physiology and physics of her various perils.
10:00 PM Appleseed Ex-Machina
(2 Hours - Rating: PG-13)
Special Forces soldiers Deunan, Briareos and Tereus battle to preserve peace in the city-nation of Olympus, until a stealth attack by zealots turns the city into a war zone. A film by John Woo and Shinji Aramaki.
12:00 AM Paprika
(1 Hour, 30 Minutes - Rating: R)
After a revolutionary machine that allows scientists to enter and record a subject's dream is stolen, A detective and a therapist join forces to recover the device before it falls into the hands of a "dream terrorist". Satoshi Kon's latest exploration of the boundary between reality and imagination.
1:30 AM Witchblade 1-4
(1 Hour, 30 Minutes - Rating: TV-MA)
Masame Amaha is a woman on the fringe of society, struggling to build a life with her daughter, with no memory of her past. But she has been chosen as the host for the ancient artifact Witchblade, which will forever scar her future.
3:00 AM Red Garden 1-4
(2 Hours - Rating: TV-MA)
Four women follow a swarm of crimson-colored butterflies that only they can see to find a woman who tells them that they were all murdered and that they must now do her bidding - kill strange man-beasts with their bare hands and leave no evidence.
5:00 AM Black Blood Brothers 1-4
(2 Hours - Rating: TV-MA)
It's been a decade since the sacred war between humans and vampires. Vampire brothers Jiro and Kotaro travel to the Special Zone, where vampires and humans live in peace, but become involved in a battle with the re-emerging Kowloon Bloodline, monsters with an infectious bite.
Saturday, July 5th
7:00 AM Buso Renkin 1-4
(2 Hours - Rating: TV-14)
High school student Kazuki Muto is killed while trying to save a girl from a monster, not realising that she was a monster hunter trying to lure it. The girl revives him by replacing his heart with an alchemical device called a kakugane, which enables him to form his own alchemical weapon called a Buso Renkin. He joins the girl, Tokiko Tsumura, in her fight.
9:00 AM Flying Phantom Ship
(1 Hour - Rating: G)
Fast-moving children's movie from 1969, notable as the first film that Hayao Miyazaki made a significant contribution to, as key animator. The first 10 minutes, with "haunted" house and goofy great Dane, seems like a prototype for Hanna-Barberra's Scooby-Doo, which premiered in the USA four months later. The plot quickly shifts to military-industrial conspiracies, giant robots, toxic soda pop, a kamikaze kanojo, a boss-monster in the ocean and, of course, the flying phantom ship.
10:00 AM Tales From Earthsea
(2 Hours)
2006 feature film from Studio Ghibli based loosely on the Earthsea series by Ursula K. Leguin. The Balance has been magically disturbed and both people and animals are doing strange and violent things. A king's son on the run from having killed his father meets a wizard and a strange girl. Secrets abound. Some are revealed.

1:00 PM Innocent Venus 1-4
(1 Hour, 30 Minutes - Rating: TV-14)
A mass of ultra-violent storms has wiped out over half of the world's population, leaving the remainder in a broken and barren existence. But in Japan, there is an exception. Here, the wealthy rule with war machines and suppress the masses. And they have a very dark secret. Caught in the middle is an innocent girl, codenamed Venus, whom rebels have determined to protect. What is her purpose and power?
2:30 PM Venus Versus Virus
(1 Hour, 50 Minutes - Rating: TV-14)
Sumire is a schoolgirl who has the power to sense demons, or virus, around her. She teams up with Lucia, a virus-fighter from the Venus Vanguard. They will learn from each other why a life is worth saving. They will learn from their enemies that they each have their own potential for evil.
4:20 PM Pumpkin Scissors 1-4
(1 Hour, 40 Minutes - Rating: TV-14)
The Empire lies shattered. In the aftermath of the Great War, Lt. Alice Malvin is charged to take command of the Imperial Army's Intelligence Section Three, codenamed Pumkin Scissors. Her mission: to expose the corrupt power-mad nobility who prey on the weak in their local areas. But as Malvin starts to peel away the layers of a government cover-up involving a defunct super-soldier program, she discovers technology decades ahead of what the Army has.

After an advanced race, the Golden Race, left to explore other reaches of space, the human race became threatened with extinction. Since the Golden Race left, the Silver Race has long since been the most dominant race, calling themselves the Golden Race's successors. The young princess of the Iron Race, Dhianeila, searches for the one mentioned in her family's history; the messianic individual that holds the power to save her people. This person she looks for is the only human to have been raised by the Golden Race before they departed from the universe. (source-wikipedia)

In the mountainous Asian country of Uddiyana a civil war rages with no end in sight until a photojournalist, Saeko Shirasu, snapped an iconic image that would come to be known simply as "Flag". Hope arises as the many factions involved begin an approach to peace, rallying behind the featured flag. When an unknown sect steals this symbol of unity, a U.N. unit is dispatched using the latest in military technology, a transforming bibedal exoskeleton. Recruited to document this mission is Saeko. The story is told in documentary style by another photojournalist using his and her combined archives.

In 2067, Japan isolates herself from the eyes of the world in the face of international policy setting strict limits on the use of robotic technology. In 2077, Japan is infiltrated by agents of the organization S.W.O.R.D. to determine if the Japanese are developing banned robotic bio-technology.

Cursed by his half-monstrous, half-human nature, Dante must spend his life fighting the forces of darkness-demons. Big ones, sly ones, smelly ones, crafty ones, sexy ones. Well-done game adaptation.

In Treasure Town, life can be both gentle and brutal. This is never truer than for our heroes, Black and White, two street urchins who watch over the city, doing battle with an array of old-world Yakuza and alien assassins vying to rule the decaying metropolis. Award-winning film from Studio 4oC.
4:00 AM Welcome to the N-H-K
(2 Hours - Rating: TV-MA)
Sato's life is going down the drain. A college dropout, he rarely goes outside, sleeps sixteen hours a day, and has become convinced that a sinister broadcast company known as "the NHK" is trying to transform their viewers into jobless, societal recluses. In his darkest hour, Sato has a chance encounter with a beautiful girl named Misaki, who claims that she can cure him of his perverse ways. Is she really an angel of mercy? Or a devilish agent of the NHK? Outstanding Satire.
Sunday, July 6th
6:00 AM Moonlight Mile 1-4

For daredevil mountain climbers Goro Saruwatari and Jack "Lostman" Woodbridge, conquering the highest peaks on Earth is just the beginning. When a virtually limitless energy source is discovered on the moon, and the world's space agencies join forces to launch a mining operation, Goro and Lostman see their next frontier. But can the superpowers of the world really share such a valuable resource?
8:00 AM Ramen Fighter Miki 1-4
(1 Hour, 30 Minutes - Rating: TV-PG)
Miki Onimaru works at her parent's noodle shop, making deliveries, waiting tables, and attracting customers. Somehow, Miki can't complete even one of these simple tasks without the full employment of her extensive martial arts moves and penchant for unleashing distruction. Can Miki get through the day without messing up and angering her Mom, who makes her look like a gentle kitten in comparison?
9:30 AM Tweeny Witches 1-4
(1 Hour, 30 Minutes - Rating: TV-PG)
Don't let the title put you off. 11-year-old Arusu has always believed wholeheartedly in magic, so when she falls into a magical world while trying to retrieve a Book of Spells left to her by her absent father she regards it as the greatest thing ever. Soon, though, she discovers that the witches of this realm enslave fairies and use their body parts to power their magic. Not content to let the system stand as it is, Arusu determinedly sets out to find a better way while also just as determinedly learning to use magic. Partly by happenstance and partly by assignment she falls in with two young witches, the unconfident Eva and stern Discipline Officer Sheila. Features a clever balance of fantastic wonder and darker themes. (source-Anime News Network Review)

Kuu Shiratori often fantasizes and dreams of her "prince", and longs to meet him as her ordinary school life in the school-city of Academia proceeds. One day, a young man, Kyoshiro Ayanokoji, transfers to her class, and strangely enough, bears a striking resemblance to the prince of her dreams. Kuu is elated, but soon after things start to not go her way, as she finds out that Kyoshiro is different from how she imagined him to be. However, after Kyoshiro saves her when she gets caught in the middle of a fight involving mechanical creatures and magic she has never witnessed before, she begins to appreciate him once again. The 20007 Worldcon in Japan. J-drama/comedy vs. American styles.
2:00 PM Seto no Hanayome
(2 Hours)
A young boy gets saved from drowning by a mermaid but, according to mermaid law, if a human sees a mermaid's true form, both have to be killed. The only solution to the problem is for him to marry her but her father, an undersea yakuza, is violently opposed to the union. Various undersea factions follow the betrothed young couple and infiltrate their school. Wacky comedy ensues.
