Sally Childs-Helton

Filking Guest of Honor

In their careers Sally and her husband Barry have earned numerous awards and acclaim as filk singers of extraordinary talent. As members of the Black Book Band, and as solo performers, they won both the 1988 and 1994 Pegasus Awards for best performer and have been nominated a total of twelve times for Pegasus awards in other years. They were inducted into the Filk Hall of Fame in March, 2003. Their work can be heard on the albums Escape From Mundania, Filks that Pass in the Night, Tempus Fugitives and First Contact. Their latest collaboration is on the Wild Mercy (a self described “neo-Celtic, post-industrial, electro-acoustic, folk-rock-jazz, freeform-choral” band) album, Summer Storm.

Sally and Barry will be appearing along with their band Wild Mercy and will also be hosting drumming and guitar workshops at the convention. The more musically inclined attendees are encouraged to bring their drums and guitars and join in the fun.

Sally is an accomplished archivist, and is experienced in collectiables appraising. She has offered to host a panel on collectables and to do some appraising as well. So bring that rare SF&F find of your's to the convention and compare notes with Sally and other collectors.
