David Brin

Special Surprise Last Minute Guest

David Brin is the acclaimed author of Sundiver, The Practice Effect, and the "Uplift War" series including, Startide Rising, The Uplift War, Brightness Reef, Infinity's Shore and Heaven's Reach.

David is currently in preliminary discussions about the production of movies based on his novels Earth, Glory Season and The Uplift War. His novel The Postman was adapted into the motion picture of the same name staring Kevin Costner. While the critics were "overly cynical" about the movie, it is still popular among the fans of David's work. In David's own words, "It's a flawed and uneven but ambitious rendition of my story, with some stirring moments and wonderful visual imagery that make it well worth looking at."

David has written many other novels, novellas, novelettes and short stories and has received eight Hugo Awards, six Locus Awards and two John W. Campbell Awards for his works.

David will be appearing July 5th (Friday only) at InConJunction 2002.

More information about David, including his complete bio, his thoughts on The Postman motion picture, and information about his current projects, can be found on his web site.
