Masquerade Contest

If you've attended InConJunction before, or any other Science Fiction and Fantasy convention for that matter, then you are no doubt aware of the large number of very creative costumes on display at any convention. Every year InConJunction hosts a costuming contest for our attendees so that they can display their creations and be judged amongst their peers.

This year's masquerade differs from past years in the fact that this year's we will be awarding CASH PRIZES to the top costumers. You heard right! We will be awarding a total of $200 in cash prizes (donated by famous philanthropist Anon E. Moose) with this year's masquerade grand-prize winner receiving a $100 cash prize! While presentation and performance add to the overall entertainment value of the masquerade, and are encouraged, the judging of quality, accuracy and aesthetics of the costumes will be the basis for the awarding of prizes.

General Costuming Suggestions

Many InConJunction attendees enjoy participating in our masquerade competition, or roaming the halls in unusual outfits. The following suggestions are provided for costumers and others alike:

  1. Please do not wear costumes, which pose a hazard to yourself or others. Dressing up as The Human Torch, real flames and all, may be quite a nifty costume, but you can only wear it once.
  2. If you see a scantily clad individual (male, female or otherwise), do not assume that this gives you the right to proposition them. The convention, and hotel security, will enforce their rights to remain free of unwelcome advances.
  3. Please observe all laws regarding public appearance and behavior. Remember, "no costume" is still no costume. Our convention is open to all age groups and Little Timmy or Auntie Bertha might get the wrong idea.
  4. Many costumes you see may be quite fascinating and wonderfully crafted. Please don't touch them without the permission or the wearer. Some costumes are very expensive and can be quite fragile. On a related note, please be sure to ask permission before taking photographs. Most costumers love to have their pictures taken, just be polite.
