XAVIER

Robot Guest of Honor

Xavier, one of the most senior robots at Carnegie-Mellon University's Learning Robot Lab of their Robotics Institute, is coming to InConJunction 2001. Xavier has been featured in articles on The Discovery Channel, Wired Magazine, and Popular Science.

He is employed in the lab as a research subject into developing autonomous mobile robots and is connected to the Web from 2 to 4 PM EST on weekdays where he can be remotely commanded to go to a particular location and perform specific tasks while there. Xavier is adept at knock-knock jokes and taking pictures, the two most often requested tasks.

His webpage is http://www.cs.cmu.edu/~Xavier for those wanting to know more.
